Our History

Our History

The inception of Indigeco was born whilst the directors Priscilla, Todd Mason and Greg Barnes were delivering an infrastructure project for TfNSW whilst working for a Tier 1 contractor. It was apparent that the Aboriginal participation in the construction industry was close to non-existent, and they wanted to make a difference.

The idea of Indigeco was to provide clients with a genuine Indigenous business that could supply needed services, offering value for money whilst creating employment opportunities for first nations peoples. A company that values the skills and knowledge of people, their staff, and other industry partners.

As one staff member says,

“from humble beginnings, I was always told to respect people, and I find that Indigeco holds that value throughout the organisation. I love working here”

Indigeco has recently become a Certified Supply Nation organisation, which has been an outstanding achievement. It highlights that procurement and the company can meet legal and financial requirements. It is equally important to note that to be supply certified, more than 50% of the company must have Aboriginal owners, and currently, Indigeco is 66% Aboriginal owned.

Our Managing Director Todd Mason, a proud Worimi man, a co-founder of Indigeco, has grown the business to where it is today with over 300 staff operating nationally.

“we also want to show Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that we are committed to our communities, want Indigeco to be seen as an employer of choice, and that community members can also establish and be success in their own company”
