Our Community

Our Community

Indigeco’s overall objective is to improve employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and contribute to building vibrant, economically independent communities.

“Walking in Two Worlds can be frustrating, confusing and even scary for our people. We have been there, so we show empathy and act with humility with our Indigenous employees”

Indigeco is a Supply Nation Certified Indigenous business. Supply Nation Certification assures our clients that Indigeco is a majority-owned, managed and controlled Indigenous company.

We want to show Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that we are committed to our communities. We want Indigeco to be seen as an employer of choice and show community members they can also establish and be successful in their careers and businesses.

Staff member quote.

“We also work in the employment space, and for our people that can assist families, it is positioning a change in attitudes. I did not have these opportunities when I left school over 30 years ago, there are some wonderful careers for our next generation. Construction offers apprenticeships in carpentry, building, electricians, etc, they can also become engineers, architects, the list goes on”

As Todd, our Director says,

“I am very proud of Indigeco, how it has developed since we first started. I have been involved in community all my life, this is definitely one way of helping our people”

Indigeco Elders Win The 20th Annual Elders Olympics

On 29/04/2021, Gumbaynggirr Elders hosted the Elders Olympics at Nambucca Heads.

The event sees teams of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders (50+years) come together for a day of friendly competition and celebration of healthy living.

Teams engage in sporting activities that promote healthy lifestyles and wellbeing, provide opportunities for engagement in social activities and develop ongoing networks. It is also a day for our elders to get together and have a yarn.

The games are all about skill & accuracy. A few of the games were throwing the football through the bullseye hole, quoits and walking relay. The Indigeco Elders Team are all originally from Karuah on “Worimi Country.”
